Under 18s

Wagering here is for adults only. How that is enforced, and what parents can do about the rest of the internet.

Adults only

A person under 18 commits an offence by opening a betting account, and we commit one by accepting it. Any account traced to a minor is closed on the spot, stakes are returned, and winnings are forfeited in full.

Verifying age

Date of birth is captured at application and confirmed electronically against identity records before you can place a bet. Where the electronic check cannot confirm it, a government-issued document is required. We re-check whenever account behaviour suggests the person betting may not be the person who registered.

Consequences

  • Immediate closure the moment it is discovered.
  • Stakes returned to their original source.
  • Winnings forfeited. An unlawful account cannot produce a profit.
  • Where an adult’s identity was used to open it, that adult’s own accounts are reviewed and may also close.
  • Reported to our regulator where the rules require it.

Practical steps for parents

The most reliable protection is applied at the device, not the site. Filtering software blocks gambling sites across an entire household and works regardless of how motivated a teenager is to get around it. Net Nanny, Qustodio and Family Zone are widely used; most operating systems and home routers also include parental controls at no extra cost.

  • Keep cards, banking apps and identity documents away from reach and out of browser autofill.
  • Do not bet in front of a child and never place one on their behalf. It is unlawful and it normalises the behaviour.
  • Look through devices for wagering apps, and check browsers for saved logins.
  • Have the conversation. Early exposure is the strongest single predictor of harm later on, and the research on that is not close.

How we advertise

Nothing goes into media aimed at under-18s. We use no cartoons, no mascots and no current players in ways calculated to attract children, and we stay out of the restricted windows around live sport broadcasts. The 18+ mark appears on everything we publish.

Telling us

If you suspect an account belongs to someone underage, contact support with whatever you have: a name, an email, a phone number. Every report is investigated, we move quickly, and your identity stays with us.
