Integrity and anti-match-fixing
What gets reported, what we refuse to price at all, and what happens to an account betting on what it should not know.
Puntaa Pty Ltd, trading as PickelBets, is licensed to conduct the business of a sports bookmaker in the Northern Territory. License Number: NT-RWC-SB-2017-0412. Integrity duties attach to that licence and to the agreements we hold with the controlling bodies of the competitions we price.
Monitoring and referral
Every market we run is watched for behaviour consistent with manipulation, volume arriving on an obscure proposition, staking coordinated across accounts, or money landing on a result the form does not justify. Where the pattern crosses our threshold it is referred the same day to the competition’s controlling body, to the Northern Territory Racing Commission, and where warranted to Sport Integrity Australia or the police.
Markets we decline to open
- Anything one participant could settle alone without altering the result, a nominated no-ball or the opening throw-in, for instance.
- Junior competitions, and any grade where most participants are under 18.
- Amateur competitions lacking an integrity body able to act on a referral.
- Judiciary, tribunal and stewards’ inquiry outcomes.
- Anything a controlling body has requested operators leave alone.
People who may not bet with us
Players, coaching staff, match officials, club employees, agents and anyone else accredited to a competition are barred from betting on it. That is a rule of the sports as much as a clause of ours. Identify such a wager and we void it, hand back the stake, close the account, and pass the matter on.
Non-public information
Betting on information you obtained through a position of trust and which is not public is a criminal offence across most Australian jurisdictions, not simply a contractual breach. Winnings are forfeited, the account is shut, and the file goes to law enforcement.
What we share, and with whom
Account and wagering data goes to controlling bodies and integrity units where an investigation calls for it, as set out in our privacy policy. A lawful request from a regulator or police cannot be refused, and where telling a customer they are under investigation would prejudice it, we will not tell them.
Raising something with us
Seen something that does not sit right, in a market, in a contest, or in an approach somebody made to you? Write to us marked for the Compliance Manager, or go to Sport Integrity Australia directly. Anonymous reports are accepted, and we will not name you to a club or a code without your agreement unless the law compels it.
The contractual side
Prohibited conduct is set out in full in the customer agreement.
